The Aims of the Learning Object
Why?
The learning
object is addressed to undergraduate and graduate students of the Tallinn University and of other European Universities. The aim of the learning
object is to map the EU's position in international human rights protection,
politics, security and defence area, economics, and the relevant international
activities of the EU. The learning object forms part of
the course "EU Law" read at the Tallinn University.
Activities

The student reads the indicated in the course map theoretical articles and other study materials about the external relations of the EU;

The student works with relevant EU acts and case law;

The student performs exercises about the external relations of the EU.
Study
Outcomes
- the EU's international multi- and bilateral treaties;
- the powers of the EU institutions in concluding such treaties;
- the powers of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and her relations with other EU institutions;
- the Foreign Affairs Council of the Council;
- the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy as one of the Commission's Vice-Presidents;
- DG External Relations;
- the European External Action Service (EEAS);
- the Commission's ambassadors to third states;
- the role of the European Parliament in EU external relations: AFET; DEVE; INTA.
Assessment
- Grading principles
Graded will be the student's orientation in the activities of EU institutions in the external relations areas.
- Method of grading
The student has
performed exercises in the e-learning environment.
- The grade constitutes 10% of the final grade of the course.
