The Aims of the Learning Object
Why?
The learning
object is addressed to undergraduate and graduate students of the Tallinn University and of other European Universities. The aim of the learning object is to give an overview of transformation of political movements in Europe; to
distinguish between and map different political parties on European level, their
relations and representation in Member States, the European Parliament and other
European institutions. Political parties in Europe may be viewed on three levels: 1) political parties of the Member States; 2) political parties on European level, and 3) political representation in the European Parliament.
Activities

The student reads theoretical articles and materials about political movements in Europe;

To the student are introduced different European political parties, their aims, membership, relations, documents and representation.
Learning Outcomes

The student understands what the political parties on European level are, where have they come from and the importance of those parties - the student is able to connect that knowledge with political theory.
- The student knows:
● the political parties on European level, their basic aims and activities
● the relations of those political parties with Member States' and international actors
● representation of European political parties in the European Parliament
● representation of European political parties in other EU and (European) institutions
● representation of the European political parties in his / her home state.
Assessment
• Graded will be the general understanding of the topic.
• The method of grading - This topic forms part of the final exam.
